Snowman Bagel Day!
Check out our Dino-Hearts Daily News below the pictures! 🙂
The Kindergarten Dino-Hearts enjoyed another “Let’s Cook!” day!
The kids worked with me on Tuesday to plan what we wanted to make and what ingredients we needed. Today we put all our ingredients together and made our own Snowman bagels for snack! They had a fun time making different designs and enjoyed this yummy treat! During cooking time it gives us a chance to talk about what foods we each like or don’t like, learn how to prepare foods such as washing the strawberries and cutting the tops off. The kids learn to help set the table and prepare some of the foods. There are so many little learning moments they have together during this time. For example, it was a joy to hear them talk to each other about learning to spread cream cheese and offer tips to each other on the best methods. These are the little moments they share together that help them get to know each other better, take risks trying new things and ultimately share in some great learning not just about academics but about life! When we learn to take risks and be comfortable together in other places, we learn that is okay to do in the classroom too.Great job today Dino-Hearts!
We also did our first Readers Theatre today. As a part of our Jan Brett Author study we read and acted out the story, Berlioz Bear .This is a delightful story of how several animals try to help Berlioz the Bear get his wagon unstuck from a hole and help him get to the ball on time to play his bass. While we read stories by Jan Brett, we will talk about them in a variety of ways. Readers Theatre is one of the most delightful ways to watch a Kindergarten class enjoy stories! Ask your child what they know about Jan Brett as an Author.
We are also reading Shel Siverstein poems after calendar to give us a chance to meet a different type of Author. Learning to hear from a variety of Authors helps us understand our Make-A-Book station better. The children have a chance to be their own Author during this station and they can decide what type of Author they want to be. We look forward to hearing some of their stories soon!
As always it was such a joy to be with the Dino-Hearts today! I wish you all a delightful weekend with your children!
