“Time for a Hug” by Phillis Gershator is a huggable read-aloud students just loved! “What time is it?” asked the mommy rabbit. “It’s time for a hug!” replied the baby rabbit. As the story was being read, the early preschoolers in class would say, “It’s time for a hug!”
“Whether it’s twelve o’clock or eight… No matter what kind of weather… Even if you’re a busy, busy bunny… It’s always TIME for a HUG!”
The students loved making their “Huggable Heart Person” for their Valentine’s Day paper bag. This was such a fun Visual Arts activity! They placed the eyes, mouth, hands, legs, and boots on their bags. The students enjoyed playing with their “Huggable Heart Person” and felt very proud to have made it.
Students also learned about the Letter R in Language Arts. They learned picture words that start with the Letter R: rocket, rabbit, ruler, rug, rose, red, rope, rooster, rocks, robot, ring, razor, and ribbon. When shown the razor, some of them exclaimed, “My daddy uses that!”
They particularly loved playing with the sensory tubs filled with pink hearts in red confetti. Students had to scoop to find the hearts buried under the red confetti.
