Today the Dino-Hearts did all their work outside! We just could not resist the weather today and so with a quilt and our learning tools, we headed outdoors. Today our first plan was to read the book, The Empty Pot by: Demi This delightful story teaches us about the importance of honesty. While honesty is the main theme in this story, we had a healthy discussion about what some of the kids said to Ping when his flower was not growing and how words can be very powerful. While Ping was feeling sad, we discussed what could have been said differently to help him feel better. This is a delightful story and must read anytime of year.
After our story, we went on a special mission outside looking for “Signs of Spring!” Ask your Dino-Heart what they found. We recorded what we found with pictures and words to explain our Signs of Spring hunt.
After enjoying a nice snack, we started our Math Journal pages. We will continue to add math journal pages each week. We will go over a variety of topics but specifically we are looking to write out math equations and show a picture representation as well.
After all of our work was finished, we enjoyed a fun game outside together! When we went back inside to sing our “Good-Bye” song, many of the kids said that their favorite part of the day was…being outside!
Have a great night!
