Today was certainly a beautiful day so the Dino-Hearts packed up and did our writing and book reading outside today. First we had the important business of watering and caring for our grass that has been growing in our classroom. Some of us decided it was time for our grass to have a “hair cut!” We also did an observation of our grass in our Science Journals.
After working on our Science today, we drew pictures for our journals of the outside and labeled them. We have been talking about the parts of a plant. We had a chance to finish a project from last week when we made petals of flowers and today we worked on the stems and leaves. The kids were given one part of a stem and they had to measure with that stem on the wall and tell me how many more they needed to complete the stem. This was a non-standard measuring task we had done earlier in the year. These flowers are hanging outside in the hallway for all to enjoy.
We read together today individually and switched books. Some of the kids have homework assigned with their reading. We will meet again tomorrow to discuss their books and read together. If they have time tonight to do their homework then great. If not, please send it back when it is finished, at least by next Monday. Thanks everyone and hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather today!
