Itsy, Bitsy Spider

What a busy week for our early preschoolers last week! In Reading, for example, students listened to “Sofia the First The Halloween Ball” by Lisa Ann Margoli; “Pooh’s Trick or Treat” by Ann Braybrooks; “We Love Fall” by Diane Muldrow; “Hide and Seek Hippo” by Samantha Berger; and “Bye, Bye Mom and Dad” by Mercer Meyer.

In Nursery Rhymes, we sang the “Itsy, Bitsy Spider,” “I Love You by Barney,” “Being Together by Barney,” and “Five Little Pumpkins.”

In Language, early preschoolers learned about the name and sound of the Letter H. They worked on several hands-on language arts activities including the following: Letter H Craft with horses hooves trotting on H; Letter H Collage while pasting horses on H; Lowercase Horse Craft; and a Horse Paper Bag Puppet.

In Math, students counted from 1 to 6 and practiced recognition of numbers 1 to 6. We introduced the diamond shape and made a diamond popsicle stick. It also looks like a rhombus!

In Science Discovery, we talked about how a pumpkin grows and made sparkly orange pumpkins on popsicle sticks.

In Virtue of the Month, students listened to “Clifford We Love You” by Norman Birdwell. In the story, Clifford is feeling sad so Emily Elizabeth and her friends try to cheer him up. Emily finally writes a song for Clifford. We used the story to talk about the importance of taking care of our family and friends and the virtue of cheerfulness.
