This past week students were engaged working on projects around our school theme “Animal Characteristics”. Early preschoolers created a “Jaguar and made a Jellyfish Puppet,” while preschoolers had fun making “Jeremy Jawfish”.
In Reading, preschoolers listened several read-alouds including “My J Book” by Jane Belk Moncure; “There Was An Old Lady;” and character education stories about determination.
In Nursery Rhymes, students recited “Jack and Jill,” “Time to Hide” and “Sounds at the Farm.”
In Language, preschoolers learned about the uppercase J and lowercase J, and worked on several learning activities. They created a Letter J Collage, drew a picture of a J bird, played a game called “Jewelry and a Jumping Monkeys,” made “Jeremy Jawfish” with jewels, paper cups, and googly eyes.
In Math, we practiced counting from 0 to 6 and worked on writing the numbers 5 and 6.
In Science, preschoolers learned about animals that hibernate. They watched a Scholastic video on animals hibernating called “Winter Sleepers” and “Chipmunks Finding Food.”
In Virtue of the Month, we talked about the virtue of determination and learned the importance of never giving up.
