Vera Viper’s Valentine

In Reading, early preschoolers listened to the read-aloud “Go Dog Go” by P.D. Eastman. It’s an adventurous story about different kinds of dogs that drive cars, wear silly hats, find themselves running in mazes, and having parties on a treetop! We also talked about the opposites “up and down” and “in and out.

In Nursery Rhymes, students sang “Twinkle Little Star” and  “Queen of Hearts.” After singing the Queen of Hearts song, early preschoolers learned that a heart happens to be the shape of a valentine, which starts with the Letter V.

In Language, early preschoolers learned about the name and sound of the Letter V. They listened to the read-aloud “Vera Viper’s Valentine” by Maxwell Higgins. They had fun making a Letter V Craft with violets in a vase. Some of the words they learned that start with v included: valentine, viper, volcano, and violet.

In Visual Arts, students made a green shamrock craft with green and white pom-poms and some lucky gems.

In Math, early preschoolers reviewed counting from 1 – 10 and played counting games.

In Movement and Coordination during the JumpBunch Early Preschool Program, we introduced the sport of Football! This was a terrific week for eye/hand coordination and gross motor skills. Our goal was to have them learn proper hold and throw. Each child was given his/her own soft, age-appropriate football and was shown how this was done. Then they took turns throwing and retrieving their footballs. They also learned and practiced how to catch and how to hike the ball! The session ended with bubbles to music, and a cool down routine.
