Tiny Leprechaun

Last week in Reading, preschoolers listened to “My W Book” by Jane Belk Moncure.

In Nursery Rhymes, students had fun reciting the rhymes “Who Has Seen the Wind?,” “Tiny Leprechaun,” “Colors in a Rainbow.”

In Language, preschoolers worked on the uppercase and lowercase W. They made aLetter W Collage; pasted wacky watermelons; created a Letter W Beginning Soundart project; made craypas drawings on wax paper; and used a wipe-off card to do simple addition. Some of the language arts activities last week included playing with a whale, warthog, wallaroo, wagon, and wallets.

In the Dramatic Play Center, students played with whisks, watermelon, and waffles.

In Writing, they practiced writing the letter W on white boards with dry erase markers and also by tracing the letter w on a practice page.

In Math, preschoolers worked on simple addition and learned about “opposites.” They also practiced counting and writing the Number 19. They also played a “Color Game” and matched the color word on Color Bear on the wall.

JumpBunch Football | Meadows Academy Preschool & Daycare

In Movement and Coordination during the JumpBunch Preschool/Kindergarten Program, we played Football as well! After the usual warm-up song and opening huddle, we discussed the game with the students and asked them to name their favorite football team. We showed them the proper way to hold the football, and did some passing. Then we practiced catching the football and running for a touchdown! Finally, we did Hut-Hut-Hike and the children learned to lean over and throw the ball through their legs to another child behind them. At home, play football with your child and reinforce what they learned today.  Go out and have some fun!
